The ADT Health On-The-Go pendant uses GPS capabilities to track users virtually wherever they go. But rarely is that on a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, and then a 26.2-mile run — all within one day.
Paul Quinn’s pendant was with him on every stroke, pedal turn and step of the Ironman Florida triathlon, held in November in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Quinn, who is in his 60s, works at ADT as a National Health Sales Manager, so he knows the capabilities of the On-The-Go pendant. He says it gave him comfort knowing he was one button push away from reaching a specially trained ADT Health monitoring agent if he needed help while preparing for the race.
"I deeply believe in the technology I’m fortunate to represent," Quinn says. "I relied on it during my 4 a.m. training sessions, and having it with me during the race gave me a sense of safety and confidence — just another reminder that ADT was with me every step of the way."
ADT Medical Alert Devices help people age in place, allowing them to stay in the comfort of their own home. Some devices offer optional fall detection and GPS location tracking. All services come with ADT’s trusted 24/7 professional monitoring, giving peace of mind to users and their families, knowing they can easily push a button to call for help when needed.
This event was Quinn's third Ironman, and he says it was important to have the On-The-Go device with him while he pushed his body to the limit.
He proudly showed off ADT’s mobile safety unit in his race finish photo — saying he’s working to break the stigma around medical alert devices — after finishing the race in 16 hours, 21 minutes. That’s about 30 minutes faster than his previous race time.
