When Breanna Henry joined ADT in June, it wasn’t just a new job — it was the next chapter in a family story that started nearly 80 years ago.
How deep is her family’s connection to ADT? Four generations deep.
Henry’s great-grandfather, James Carrico, joined ADT in 1947. He served as a guard and rose to a position supervising a team of ADT armed guards. He retired in 1990.
In the 1970s, Henry’s grandmother, Roberta Newer, worked in payroll. Her grandfather, Brad Newer, became a service technician in 1973 and stayed with ADT until the early 2000s. (And just to deepen the connection, Roberta Newer’s brother and sister also worked at ADT for a time.)

Next up? The third generation: Henry’s father, Brad Newer Jr., who worked as a service technician from the mid-1990s to early 2010s.
Now, Henry proudly represents the fourth generation employed at ADT in its 151-year history, working as an admin process coordinator at our Madison Heights, Michigan, branch.
“Over half the company’s life, someone in my family has worked here,” she said. “It gives us chills.”
It’s increasingly rare for employees to remain with a company for decades, let alone for multiple generations to work for an organization that isn’t family-owned. Over the past few decades, average employee tenure in U.S. companies has steadily declined. A 2024 report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the typical worker remains with an employer for only 3.9 years, a trend that has continued downward.
Six months into her tenure, Henry is enjoying her role working with sales representatives, managers and technicians. “The jobs go through, and I make sure things are set up for success,” she said. “You have to be detail-oriented. I’m still learning, but everyone’s been so supportive.”

Terri Riley, Admin Processor, handles HR tasks for the office and worked with Breanna's father and grandfather. She searched through old employee files and found the ADT employee IDs for James Carrico and Brad Newer.
Henry also shared a decades-old photo of her dad standing proudly in front of the ADT van that was always parked in her driveway when she was growing up. She remembers her father’s coworkers as if they were family.
“All my dad’s friends are like uncles,” she said. “I’ve been around ADT my whole life. Now, it’s officially part of my future.”

Dawn Bowen, Admin Area Manager, has worked at ADT for nearly 30 years and is Henry’s leader. She said the Madison Heights office is a special place full of memories.
“We have technicians who’ve worked here for 35–40 years,” Bowen said. “One of our admins has been here for almost 40 years. We’re like our own little family within the ADT family.”
Henry’s father, Newer Jr., agrees. He remembers his ADT days fondly. “We all treated each other like family,” he said. “Everyone worked toward a common goal.”
“I’m proud of my daughter every day,” he added. “I worked to instill a strong work ethic in both my children.”
What would Henry’s great-grandfather think of ADT today — a company with industry-leading technology like ADT+ and Trusted Neighbor?™
“I think he'd be insanely impressed to see the widespread reach of what we're doing day-to-day,” she said.
